![]() ![]() So, I'll go down here to the lower corner of the document. Now, before I go on, I'm going to go back and I'm going to go into layer 2 to add the bass drum notes. So, again I'm on the hi hat space, so I'm just going to hit my Return key couple times and before I add the next note, I'll go Shift+5 real quick and then Enter, Enter, Enter, Shift+5 and Enter, Enter to add that. So, I'm going to go ahead, and in layer one, I'm going to add the notes that the drummer would play with their hands. Sometimes drummers call this one hands up and feet down, to indicate the direction of the stems. But it's just notated a little bit differently. Now, I've notated exactly the same drum part in the second measure. And then I'll move over and I'll add some more notes in the second measure. And then I'll go over to the next group and I'll press L on that first note as well. And then I'm going to press the L key on my computer keyboard to flip the stem the opposite direction. So, I'm going to flip the beam on this, and go back over to the first note by using my left arrow to move over there. Now, most of the time drummers will actually stem this from the top side. And over two, Shift+5, and over one, Shift+9. ![]() And one note and go Shift+9 and then Shift+9 again. And then I'll arrow over two notes and I'll go Shift+5 for the snare. For the kick drum in this case, it's going to be Shift+9. So, to add an interval below that, you hold the Shift key down and type the number of the interval. And then I am going to arrow back over to the first one, so I can add the kick and snare parts. And I am actually going to need eight of those. So, what I'm going to do is, since I'm on that space, I can just hit my Return key to enter that note. ![]() And I'm going to get started here by entering some notes, so I'm going to go to the Simple Entry tool, and that's dropped me into that first measure. So, I've opened up the 10_02 drum part start file, and the 10_02 drumset parts example files, and I've tiled them, and they're both in Page view. Lets take a look at some of the different options available in Finale for notating drum parts. ![]() When notating drum set parts, you want to know how to notate basic patterns, indicate where you want fills and show where the drummer should play on Samba rhythms. ![]()
